Does anyone know where the expats shop in Chennai? I'm looking for foods such as tinned ham and baked beans. We live in Vijayawada and products such as these are not available. My husband is going down to Chennai for business this week so i'm looking for a supermarket I can send him to.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Jennih, You may wish to send your husband to a shop called "Amma Nana". It's located on Chamiers Road but is commonly known to be directly opposite Park Sheraton Hotel (beginning of TTK Road, are is known as Alwarpet). It is located right at the junction. Most expats go there to do grocery shopping. I'm not sure what mode of transport yr husband will use but Park Sheraton is the most obvious landmark that even autorickshaw drivers should know. If they don't, chances are they are trying to be funny.
The variety of imported stuff is the widest there but it certainly comes at a price (eg. 3 X more). Do check the expiry dates as well! Some stuff is also available at the local supermarket chain, Foodworld. There are a couple of outlets and baked beans shld be easily avail. there. The nearest one from Park Sheraton is at CP Ramaswamy Road. If he goes to Spencer Plaza, which is also a famous hangout for locals and foreigners alike, he can checkout the Foordworld there as well as another shop called Nuts and Spices (less variety).

Thanks Josie. You've been a great help. I sent my husband off to Amma Nana and Spencer Plaza yesterday, he now has 3 large boxes of goods to lug back on the train with him tonight lol.
Thanks again. Jenni

Most expatriates shop at a shop called "AmmaNaana" which is situated across the road from Welcomgroup Park Sheraton.
