Hello all, my husband and I are moving to Hyderabad, India in the next two months. I am excited but I am also worried about all that I don't know and need to know. One thing that I am curious about is the malaria situation. Is anyone taking anti malaria drugs and if so, any suggestions as to which to take (side effects, etc)? I would really appreciate any advice on preparation for our move and I am looking for anyone that may be able to chat about their experiences there to date. My email address is jsvensson2004@hotmail.com Thank you.

I've been in India for the past 3+ years. I took the malaria medication for the first 2-3 months, but stopped taking it after that.

I haven't had any problems. If you don't mind continually taking the medication, and it doesn't bother you (made me nauseous), you may as well take it. You can either take a daily or weekly dose.

In reality, unless you are travelling outside of the urban areas or see news of an outbreak in the area you live in, there isn't much threat of contracting it.
