Hello
Can anyone advise if rent is paid in monthly, weekly or yearly installments in India? For example, when looking at rental sites, is the rental amount listed usually for the year, month or week?
Can anyone tell me what it Bangalore is like to live in? We are a couple in our 40s from Australia, looking at going there for my husbands job. Have lived in the UAE for a while before.

Hi there,
Its been almost 2 months since you posted your message; perhaps you have already taken the plunge and shifted to Bangalore. In case you haven't, perhaps this could be useful.
Rentals in Bangalore, or for that matter, any city in India, are paid monthly. Some owners demand the rent in advance at the start of the month; while others expect it in the first week of the next month. In Bangalore, you will find the latter case.
Besides the monthly rent payment, there is an interest-free, refundable "security" deposit, which is usually 10 times the monthly rent amount, that you have to pay to the owner at the time of signing the leave-and-license agreement with them. The agreement is for a period of 11 months; renewable with mutual understanding.
The rent figures in Bangalore have been kissing the stratosphere in the past couple of years; with the highest premium for realty in South of Bangalore, where the majority of IT companies are located.

Its more than two months that you have posted message,but just thought of providing you more details on rented house in Bangalore.
In Bangalore you can find two types of rental agreement.
1.Paying monthly rent.
2.Lease for a minimum period of 1 year-Where in you will be refunded the money paid to the owner once the lease period is terminated.

Hello. I am considering a move to Mumbai and am looking for any information about cost of living, US dollar equivalents with regard to monthly or yearly renting or leasing etc...
