Hi there

My partner has recently been transferred to Mumbai from Australia. I plan to join him oveer thre in a few months. I was wondering if someone could recommend a good Recruitment Agency so that I can begin to look for work myself? i would be looking for jobs in the HR/Organisational Development area.

Many thanks,

Millie

Hi Millie,

If you aren't married to your partner then don't assume that you will be given a residents visa automatically.

If you do get a visa based on your partners employment you may only be given an X visa. This is a dependent spouses visa and will not entitle you to work.

If you want to work you will need to apply for a work visa in Australia before you come over. The only problem is you might have to get the job first and get the company to sponsor you in.

Your partner's company may be using a relocation company and they might be able to advise you on specifics. Alternatively have a look at the Indian immigration website.

Good luck.

Hi Millie,

I too am about to move to Mumbai in the next few months from Sydney Australia and i have been exploring my options for work. Are you Mariied?
You have to be sponsered by a company to work in india is what i know of but the recruitment agency you apply to will be able to sponser you as far as i know while you look for work. I would love to hear how you are going lookign and i also have some great work ideas myself. What field are you in.

Hi,
Same thing here. Traveling to mumbai soon. My girlfriend works there and I'm just about to resign to go be with her for a few months. HOPING to find work and be able to change my visa. I know that you cannot change a tourist visa to a working visa inside India, but i did the naukri and all others with little result. My resume is actually very good, but Indians are more of the face to face job interview people. So, saved some money, got my visa and I'm ready to go there for a couple of months.... could stay longer but my tourist visa expires the 24th of march...
hopefully i can get a few interviews in and return to set up my paperwork. It's tough... but she's worth it :)
