American Mom & Kids in Kashmir

I've been living in Srinagar, Kashmir, since April 1 of this year. My kids are boys, ages 15 and 10. I'm married to a Kashmiri man who has a family busines here - we met & married in the US where he was living.

Culture shock hasn't been much of an issue, but homesickness is. For me, more than the boys. How do you cope with the "I wanna go hooooooome" feelings? :( I love it here, I love India very much, but there are times when I really miss my neat and quiet little midwestern US life.

Hi, I am American from Idaho, and will be moving to a village outside Lucknow to teach, in Jan 2010 with my 12 year old son. Would love to get together with you! And am sure, will have the same feelings too...have been an "expat" before, so I have felt it. And as a single mom, it gets more sometimes without family.
