Mumbai - the wage gap

I'm an Australian advertising exec hoping to move to Mumbai with my wife and children.

I currently earn $135,000 AUD ($123,000 USD / 5,600,000 INR) and am concerned that the equivalent roles in Mumbai are paying about 1,000,000 INR ($22,000 USD).

From reviewing recent posts on various forums it seems like most expats should expect much closer to the salaries they receive in their home countries.

Can anyone shed any light on this wage gap?

Could my family and I live with any comfort on this wage?

If we were to move to Mumbai, on a 1,000,000 INR wage, what would our lifestyle be like?

Thanks.

at 80,000 per month and tax at 33% which means you get INR 53,600.00 per month, the rent in South Mumbai is more than that for a good 2 bed room

Hi, I'm an Australian national who has lived in India Pune & Mumbai and now live in Brisbane Australia with a similar income. I know people in India with 50 Lac + incomes and could share some light on this. I suspect like me you need to flesh ideas out; if your interested please respond and talk

Hi, very interested in hearing your opinions. What do you know of international recruitment briefs versus roles that are obviously intended for domestic candidates? It seems that the local briefs represent much lower wages...
