You said it was not a safe place for women to go. Could you please explain why. The company I work for is looking at taking on a contract there so my wife will come with me.

You have not mentioned if you are an expat having job offer or an Indian. Durgapur is in West Bengal and law and order in this state is very poor. Not necessarily some thing wrong will happen but you need to extra cautious if you are white woman as we keep reading one rape or other almost daily.

If you have read on the net recently there have been criminal attacks by police ( Goondas in uniform) in West Bengal. Since the TMC has come to power situation is getting worst because of a rouge govt.
