1. Plan-plan, take it easy and accept that time is like 'rubber' (jam caret). 2. Be very careful who you trust, everybody is after your money (including most 'expats'). 3. Make sure you build a network of Indonesian people with influence, you will need them some day 4. Inform yourself well about Indonesian laws like landownership, inheritance, immigration and so on 5. Never loose your temper in public 6. Make a phone/address list for emergencies 7. Know that saying YES can mean many many things for an Indonesian (including NO but I am to polite to say that to you) 8. Respect for people with a uniform is a absolute must in Indonesia, keep smiling! Paying a bribe can be very tricky since the new order. 9. In traffic only Darwins law is counting, don't trust any traffic light or rule. 10. Enjoy the food, sun, smiles, nature, culture and all that makes Indonesia one of the most facinating and beautiful countries
