Will my US video tapes work on a VCR that I purchase in Ireland? I am moving this week and need to know if I should pack my videos or not. Thanks

" Peter, As long as you purchase a multisystem VCR in Ireland (or the states) you''re OK. The videotape format in Ireland is PAL whereas in the states it''s NTSC and the two are not compatible. The multisystem will handle either format. I had a lot of childrens videos to bring and it was imperative that I found something to play them on. The multisystem is also good if you wish to rent videos in Ireland, because it will play them also. Hope this helps. Karen Moriarty "

" Karen, Thanks for the tip. Because of the difference in formats, we thought that we would leave all of our children''s tapes here, but now we will bring them. Regards, Pete "

Hello & Welcome No you cannot use US video tapes on a VCR purchased in Ireland unless you purchase a VCR which will run both kinds of tapes.
