" Hello, In one year I will have earned my MA in Counseling Psychology in Portland, Oregon. I would like to find work in Ireland as a therapist. I know I need to get in touch with the Irish Psychological Society for registration. However, I was wondering if anyone would know how easy/difficult it may be for me to find employment? Where would I look?? I''m very open to were I would be working and the population. I would also be very open to teaching/lectureship and research positions. Is there even a need for psychologists in Ireland? Particularly at the Master''s level? Any help or ideas would be wonderful. Thanks, David Devine "

There are needs - but you may find the system a little grim. My suggestion is that you come for a visit, go to one of the Hospitals or facilities and Talk to the staff to find out their needs and to see if this is something you might actually want to consider. I am from Portland and have a degree in psychology though I do not work within the system here in Ireland. I know people who do and understand that the reality may be a little difficult to deal with.

Best regards

Hi! I know this post is 15 years old (lol) but I was wondering what your luck was with psychology jobs and if you were able to get a visa with that as a skill? I'll finish my masters in psych in May and moving to Ireland in September of next year. I'd love any help I can get!
