As a dual US/Irish Citizen(Irish by Descent)...Can my Us Citizen Wife and I spend 6 months a year in Ireland once we retire?

For extended stays you have to submit the EU1 form. Which is what we've had to do.

If we did not have jobs and just landed with Passports do we need to file the EU1 form in advance or should we just apply for a Visa now here in the States?

We just showed up, the customs agent wasn't too pleased with us but gave me a 90 stamp to get the paperwork filed, I'll probably have to get an extension till it gets approved but they said that wasn't a problem. You might call or email them to see if you need it if you're only staying for 6 months.

Do you have to pay Irish taxes if you are there for 6 months? Do you have to pay on income earned in Ireland as well as income earned in the uSA?
