I am an American doctor looking to relocate to Ireland to work. Is there anyone who has done this and can advise me? In particular, is there any specific recruitment agency that is the best to use?

As a good starting point ,I suggest that you visit the Irish Health Authority website - HSE .ie where you should find a mine of good relevant information.

I am an MRI Tech trying to do the same thing. It is a very long process, even by Irish standards. Medical is considered "high demand" though.

My regulating body is CORU. I had to fill out an application for them to recognize my degree. That was 6 months of leg work. Then they look it over-2 months time. They did not like 2 of my documents and I had a month to get them new ones. The next phase is to compare me against their standards. (4-6 months)

I personally did not meet the requirements. I did not have a class on medical research. They gave me 2 options: I could take the class (in Dublin) or I can test out. I decided to test out. They have 6 months to give me a test date then I will have 1 month notice to be in Dublin on my test date. I am currently waiting on my date.

Once registered you need to find an employer that is willing to pay for the work permit. I am told this is the hardest part. Maybe it will be easier for you. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Hello Doc96,
I never did what you want to do but I was reading up on non EU people looking to get a visa and work permit in your field . I suggest you go to Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation on the web once there go to Highly Skilled Occupations List and the medical field has many different areas of expertise that you can go for and if approved get a visa and work permit, so that is at least a start. So Doc96 if you didn't already find that spot on the web go there and it explains what I think you want.
GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!
