Ireland's Justice Ministry Wants Your Comments...

...so it says here:

http://www.justice.ie/en/JELR/Pages/Consultation-on-Statement-of-Strategy-2016-2019

If you've wanted to spill your guts about how you feel on the subject of Irish immigration law, here, apparently, is your chance. But not for long, there's only a few days remaining to get your voice heard!

Mind you, the Justice Ministry has many, MANY different departments besides our friends at INIS, their immigration arm, so should you take advantage of their offer to comment, I wouldn't expect any personal phone calls from the Minister on your insightful suggestions. But, who knows? It's a small country, and, as usual, this offer to 'consult' on their strategy has apparently been up on their website for weeks, with no publicity....so who knows? You might be the first!

I might also suggest that you take a moment to read last year's strategy plan, which (I think) you'll find on the page link. It will give you a look into the Ministry's group-think....

Good luck; please write clearly, concisely, and in a positive tone; we don't want them to get the wrong impression about us!

One of my sources tell me that the link posted by Dave is NOT related to public consultation on retiree policy. Apparently, the Ministry has yet to announce the promised public consultation process for retirees/Stamp 0. I hope to confirm this with other sources ASAP.

Hi Dave, according to information some of us have received, while an email may certainly be sent to this address on this topic, it is not the forum we've been expecting. The address for this specific issue has not yet been released.

Since I'd never heard again of any 'public consultation' specifically on immigration, I'd figured they'd just buried their 'outreach' in with the general solicitation on the Justice Ministry plan. I hope I'm wrong! Still, I don't think a word or two about immigration to the department as a whole is going to hurt... now, WHEN is INIS going to get their act together???? (I know, the 'wheels of justice' grind slowly...) :-)

I agree with your suspicions and hope that I am not wrong as this may be the last bite we may have at the apple. I want to confirm with the Embassy before being sure.

I have just received additional confirmation that the Ministry for Justice has not yet announced the public consultation process that is promised.

My source says that "The draft plan available for public review and comment might be available as early as next week. The Ministry of Justice will have it on their website and the public will have about 2 months to make comments. I’m told that MoJ will take a more softer approach in the new plan and it will address existing cases."

So, Kevin.... care to hint at the identity of your source? I have images of you playing Woodward and/or Bernstein, meeting "Deep Throat" in some parking garage... :-)
