Hi everyone,
Both me and my husband Irish citizen through naturalization and indian by birth.I came to India 4months back and gave birth to my son in India. I'm planning to go back in next February. How can I get my child name entered in the foreign birth register. My husband still in Ireland can he apply there or else I need to apply in India? . what about the address proof do I need to give address proof from India or Ireland as I usually a resident in Ireland and my husband move the house since I came to India.
Also I read somewhere it will take up to 6months to complete the process and get Irish passport.
Please give your suggestions to proceed with our application.
Many thanks

Hello hope this
A. The Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 2004, which commenced on 1 January, 2005 provides that certain non-Irish nationals are required to be resident in the island of Ireland for three years in the four year period immediately prior to the birth of their child, for that child to be entitled to Irish citizenship. This altered the previous situation whereby a child born in the island of Ireland was automatically entitled to Irish citizenship. Information on making an application for a passport for a child born on or after 1 January, 2005 can be found on the Department of Foreign Affairs website www.dfa.ie.
