When renting a "furnished" apartment or house in Ireland, does that mean in addition to furniture, dishes, pots and pans, sheets, towels, etc.? Thanks.

From observations over the 16 months we spent in Ireland, not unless it is a holiday rental which is expensive. Also, cookware is, from what we saw, fairly disgusting (i.e. not cleaned well) and not good quality. After saying that, of course it will depend on where you rent and whether you are paying high-end rent. If you intend to rent for say 1 year it might be better to consider buying your own (look online and for sales).

That is my experience, yes! TVs are hit & miss, and you may prefer your own towels & bedding.

Well there is no 'one size fits all' answer to your question regardless of in what country you are asking about.
What furnished includes, is totally dependent on the individual landlord's definition. I rented a fully furnished apartment in Greece that did include everything down to the corkscrew and everything was of good/new quality. But that was certainly not a 'norm' and it was not at the low end of the rental market.
The only way to really know is to SEE what it includes before you rent it.

Thanks all. Much appreciated. I kind of thought it would be "depends". I just wanted to see what the baseline might be.
