Work for US employer in Ireland

Hi
I have Irish and American citizenship. We are moving back to Ireland in a couple of months and my current employer wants me to work remotely for them. I am trying to find out if I can continue to be considered an employee of the US company or if I would need to become an independent contractor or set up my own company. I intend on paying taxes in Ireland. Has anyone been down this path?
thanks
DublinDee
