Hi We are currently living in France and we are planning to move in Ireland this year. My husband is a EU citizen and i am a non EU. What are the chances and possiblities of me getting a visa? .. We are both considering getting a job first, but we planned that my husband will go there first, secure a job then i'll join him after. If i have a resident card in France would be easier for me to go in Ireland?
Any ideas of the living in Galway, cork or Dublin.. Cost of living.. Employment and apartment searching..?

Hi Janseym, You can check daft.ie for rental accommodations all over Ireland. You can look for jobs on jobs.ie. Here is a link with some information on immigration in regards to EEA members and their rights to have their families move to Ireland with them, http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/moving_country/moving_to_ireland/rights_of_residence_in_ireland/residence_rights_eu_national.html Good luck!

Check the Irish immigration web pages for current information; my gut tells me you'll have no problem as you are an EU citizen. Cork and Galway are both much less expensive to live in than Dublin.

Hi Dave
Thank you for your reply. We'll check the immigration information. No, only my husband is a Eu citizen, but I am not. So it's all confusing for me all the information i saw on the internet.
Yes we thought the same, that Dublin we'll be very expensive to live, but Galway is a little town, so we are worried we might get bored if we lived there as there is not much things to do than if we go in dublin..
Do you have any idea about the policies of renting an apartment in Dublin or other areas in general?
Thanks a lot!

My long time friend (Irish with Green Card) who has lived in the US for many years was thinking of spending time back in Ireland (perhaps to return for good as her husband passed away) and found the cost of renting in Dublin prohibitive. She has decided to initially do six weeks in Dublin to test the waters so to speak and has found a property to rent via Sabbatical Homes.

I'm sorry, I have nothing to contribute regarding renting as we bought a house. As far as being bored in Galway, I think you'll find it has most everything you might need, other than a giant IKEA. I came to Ireland from Los Angeles 2.5 years ago, and now Galway seems like a HUGE city and I stick to shopping in smaller towns of only a few thousand people. Everything is on a different scale here, and the brain adjusts accordingly. For what it's worth..... :-)

Hi Iris23
Thanks a lot for your response. My husband and i are very much motivated to move in Ireland, one thing we are worried about is how difficult it is to find an apartment. Is it much better to go through an agency than the owner?
thanks for the link

Thank you Dave for sharing your opinions!
We'll make more research about Galway.
