Wanting to move to Israel

My family and I are planning on moving to Israel. I have never been there and I am not Jewish so I don't speak the language. I need help on how to get visas and how to become a citizen. Also need advise on shipping. We have 1 child and 2 cats. We need an inexpensive place to live but somewhere safe. Any help from anyone with experience would be greatly appreciated. randolphd1200@yahoo.com

You could first try the Israel consulate in New York or the American Consulate in Tel- Aviv or Haifa . I also wrote a book about life in Israel - Leaving Home Going Home Returning Home : A Hebrew American's Sojourn in the Land of Israel.
Good luck.

Hello! I would like to say, as far as I know, you should be all set to come here for 3 months no problem (you don't need any "visa" just your US passports). You should have proof of funds (bank statements) just incase, but as far as just being able to come to Israel/travel, it's fairly easy for americans.

The issue is going to be when you try to stay here. If you are not Jewish, it would be hard to immigrate (unless for business, etc. ) Your best bet would be to take a 3 month vacation with your family, and see if you like it here. Also get used to the different towns, and decide where u want to live. If you do not speak Hebrew, I would STRONGLY suggest you get some under your belt. It's going to make the stress of the move much eaiser, and it will lessen your culture shock. The cat is no problem if you fly with continental airlines, or another pet friendly airline. It can be a bit pricely though about $200 for cabin flight, or $500 cargo flight. Plus you'll need to get the vet and the USDA vet of your state to sign the forms for travel. this must be done within 10 days of travel.

Oh one more thing: If you plan to stay once you get here, you need to have official documents "apostilled" by the secretary of state in which you live. I would strongly reccommend you have this done before you come, and save yourself MANY headaches when they request paperwork from your family. At the least you should have the following documents apostilled: All birth certificates (these must be requested from the state, and NOT the ones they give out at the hospital. (Do not get these "notorized" the seal from the "office of vital statistics" in the state you were born is all that is required other than the apostilles); Your marriage licence, criminal background checks, and thats all I can think of now. but plan ahead so you wont have to make that extra trip back to the states. Feel free to ask any questions, I've been through the immigration, AND I brought 2 of my pets with me. It's scary sometimes, but totally worth it if thats what you want.

Hi

I travel to Tel Aviv several times a year and I have found that renting an apartment for short term is much cheaper than renting a hotel room. It is also more convenient it lets you feel a part of the city opposed to feeling like a tourist. There are many companies for short-term rental in tel aviv.
I'm happy to recommend one company that provides professional service.
They have clean and beautiful apartments and they are very nice people who love to help, honest and will be happy to assist you with recommendations to good restaurants and nightlife.

Company Name TLV2GO - Holiday apartments in Tel Aviv
You can check out their site
