hi there, my name is Clare. I am a Physiotherapist from England and am interested in moving to Israel. I have an israeli boyfriend who needs to stay there to study. After a hard year of seeing eachother for a week here and there with months apart in between, we want to commit to a life in the same country!
As i am not jewish, i believe there is a possibility i could work in Israel but when i contacted the israeli embassy in london i was told id need a promise of a job there first before i could apply for the permit. This will prove hard as i am living in england currently.....How long is the visa application process for someone who is not Jewish? I also do not speak much hebrew but of course would want to learn as much as is possible!
Does anyone share my situation or have any information on processes for even being considered for a job when i am not in the country (and dont speak the native language)? I am highly skilled and willing to try whatever job to make myself useful and have a chance of establishing a life in Israel.
Any help would be so greatly appreciated, we really do not want to have to end our relationship
Thanks for your time

There are specific laws concerning the relocation of non-married partners of Israelis to Israel. Take a look at www.acri.org.il and what they say about family re-unifications. The step by step process is also outlined here: http://www.ktalegal.com/Relocation-to-Israel/step-by-step-process-for-citizenship-in-israel.html

Hi Clare, did you get here? My boyfriend and I are irish and we are not jewish, we moved here on 7th Jan to start work on 8th Jan. Work have hired a law firm to sort out our visas for us. I think after the initial application it takes about 45 days before it comes thorugh, then you have to go home and collect your visa in the israeli embassy in your home country (Dublin for us) and then come back and surrender your passport and it comes back in less than a fortnight with the visa in it! Hope that helps.........we had our jobs before we came though so I can't be of that much help!

I'm considering moving there. I'm actually very scared (nothing to do with the bombings), but things keep coming back to moving there.
I'm just curious why non Jews want to move there. Is it because of the Christian influence or something else?

Heya, well I know about 30 or 40 irish, english, scottish and welsh people that are living here for work. They offer us very lucrative packages to come here i.e. free apartment, free utility bills, free rental car, free petrol, phone, laptop, lunch card, internet etc etc! So we're here for the money and also for an adventure I guess! It's a beautiful country, everyone speaks english (almost everyone) and you can live well here although you would need a high salary as day to day stuff is expensive, like I say with the package we have we don't need to spend that much money except what we choose to spend on eating out/drinks etc at weekends.

I think non-jews either move here because they're brought here by the lure of a lucrative package with work like we were, or else they have met and settled down with an israeli. I've never met a non-jewish person that moved here for any other reason than work or love!

Interesting. I didn't realize that.
Mind if I ask you what you do that they wanted you guys so bad?
Also if you can respond to my Internet post that would be MUCH appreciated. I really need to know that info before even moving forward with my research.
So you haven't had to learn any Hebrew?
Where are you, Tel Aviv?
Later
