Moving to Israel - help needed

I am a 28 year old male who has recently decided to move to Israel from Australia. Ill be moving to Tel aviv around June or July of this year and wanted to know a little bit more regarding cost of living. I have been to Tel aviv before but only for a holiday which is obviously a little different. How much does it cost to rent a room in a flat share of a 2 or 3 bdr appartment. What is teh current average income in Tel aviv? What are some good English websites that allow you to search for work. is it going to be hard finding decent paying English speaking jobs? My background is in Call centres where ive worked as a Sales person at first but have also been a Sales/ Call centre Manager for the last 5 years and ideally will be looking for the same again. I do not speak any Hebrew but planning on spending the first 6 months learning to do so. I do however speak English and Russian. Any help would be much appreciated.

There are different yahoo groups for each city in Israel where you can post your requests. Also , if you are moving to Israel you should get the book " Leaving Home, Going Home, Returning Home: A Hebrew American's Sojourn in the Land of Israel" by Jason Alster - with Kindle too.

Hi Gennadi

First of all welcome aboard
I will answer what I can:
1. The cost of apartments in tel aviv (year contract, empty apartment with no furniture and not including any of the monthly costs like electricity tax…) :
Studio – 3000-4000 Nis
1 Bd - 3500-4500 Nis
2 Bd - 5500 – 6500 Nis
So if you take it with a roommate do your math
A short term rental during July and August (Hi season, furnished apartments including everything )
Studio – 8000-10000 Nis
1 Bd - 10000-15000 Nis
2 Bd - 15000-30000 Nis
You can find more info at www.tlv2go.com , http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tlv2go-Tel-Aviv-apartments/161126893922904

2. Minimum wage in Israel is 4100 Nis at the moment, but I think that the average salary is more like 5500 Nis per month.
3.
Hope you'll find this information helpful.

Regards
David

Hi,

Since I would never be able to afford those rental prices, can you recommend some towns that are much less expensive that have nice houses?

Obviously Tel Aviv (too noisy for me anyway) & Yerushalyim are out.
