Hope to maybe be moving there soon.

Thanks for the insight.
Since Tel Aviv is very expensive & the most polluted area in Israel (from what I heard), that would be out for me.
I hope you make some new friends. : )
If you want to chat via Skype in the meantime, let me know.

David,
I thought he was looking to socialize. That site seems to only be about vacation rentals?
Unless I didn't look deeply enough.
Very strange.

There are 2 conversations going on in this post - one person said she was moving here soon and looking to rent an apartment - so David supplied a website he said helped him the 1st time! He wasn't addressing it to the Canadian looking to socialise :-) To the initial person that posted are you male or female? I got in touch with a female dragon boating team when I moved here first they were looking for additional members, also I know of a women's 7s rugby team that are looking for members too. I'm sure there would also be male rugby and dragon boating but I don't have contacts for that, only for the female ones!

Oh also - this is for both genders: There is a running club/social group in Tel Aviv called the Hash harriers. I've never been in one (coz I live in Jerusalem and they don't have one here) but my understanding is that it's a group of english speaking expats that meet up to go running and also organise social events. Here's their website where you will find contact details of who to contact to find out when they meet: http://www.israelhhh.com/

Ahh, didn't see, sorry.
I'm not a fan of the layout of this site/forum.
I'm used to the real forum software where it's easy to keep track of all conversations.
Any socializing tips that don't involve sports?
Good to read that that is all available for people who are into sports : )

Hi, I'm in the same situation as you, I moved from the UK in July to herziliya in israel and I'm finding it really hard to find any social activities, or expats around the area I live in, I'm beginning to feel like no one is here, also im also noticing the area is starting to quieten down, as summer is coming to an end, I never thought it would be so hard to find things to do etc . if u find any activities etc to do please post on here if u can
Thanks very much

I'm just curious of what kinds of things did you do back home?
Did you look for areas where expats reside when deciding where to move?

I done allsorts back home, shopping, gym, exercise classes, football, ice hockey, all kind of different socialising with friends, but there not much fun doing them by yourself . We moved due to my partners job, so we never got a chance to check into whe expats reside, but I'm on numerous expat websites & there doesn't seem to be many expats going about, also alot of the the posts/threads on some of the websites are rather dated. Thanks

Yeh I had a really hard time finding Israelis & expats online to ask questions of since I'm contemplating moving there.
I'm pretty sure that part of the problem is that Israelis are out & about living REAL life, which is, IMO, the way it should be.
Once an expat moves there, one has to literally jump in with both feet in order to assimilate. None of this thing us North Americans do hiding behind a monitor LOL
I did find one Meetup group, but that was for biz. I don't remember if I searched for socializing, so you may want to do a quick search there.
I'm also a member of Internations so I joined the Israel group. It's not large, but it's a start.
On FB you can search for the word Israel & see who pops up.
Can you move to a larger city, or are you stuck there?
Are you Jewish?

I would try that Hash harriers club I posted the link for above. They don't seem like a serious sporty group, they describe themselves as 'a drinking club with a running problem' on their website like! :-) If you live near Tel Aviv - e.g Bet Yam, Herzylia - then it has to be worth going along once just to try! :-)

I'm currently not in Israel at the moment, but I'm also looking for friends. Need new Israeli friends that are interested in joining an Ebook club/business with me. GREAT money-making potential here! Check out the website and sign up!

Just to back up your message, anybody both male and female wishing to play Rugby Union, give me a shout and I will hook you up with the team I play for ASA Tel-Aviv. Truly a great way to meet expats.
