Hi,
I would like to bring a car with me to Israel during my summer vacation. Does anyone knows how to do it?
Must i have an Israeli driver's license to do it?
What about Insurance?
How long can i leave it in Israel for?
Whom is allowed to drive the car?
Many thanks

As a Tourist you can bring your car for half a year. You need carnett (green international insurance which covers Israel!). You and whoever is signed on this paper can drive the car. You can drive with your drivers licence. After half a year you will have to give a deposit for the taxes at port in the value of the car as Israel has 128 % import tax on cars ie your car is worth USD 30,000 - you will have to give a deposit of USD 30'000 to customs here. This deposit can be a bank guarantee from an Israeli bank. You will have to take out your car after the total year. http://www.aaci.org.il/articlenav.php?id=45

Hi,
If you are coming to Israel for the summer vacation only, leave your car behind and get a rental car instead.
Happy holidays.

I agree with this. You're better off just renting something if it's a short term stay.
