" Hello, Group, Being new to Italy, I haven''t gone on vacation yet. I''ve heard that it''s very common to rent a vacation house for a week or two with a group of family or friends. I''m wondering who has done this and if they felt it was worth it. I think my family and I are up for any region of Italy, and we have relatives coming who want to share a house with us somewhere ""out there."" Any advice appreciated. Thanks. " Dear Francesca I hope that I am not too late with this reponse. To be honest, most people I know find holiday villas to rent via friends or friends of friends. When we went to Pantelleria, a beautiful island just off Sicily, we found a place via the Legambiente magazine. A monthly travel publication that several people have mentioned to me is Dove. I have heard good things from people who have rented in Tuscany via villaeurope.com (suzanne@villaeurope.com). For the Lucca area, you could try Grapevine magazine which has lots of ads both from agencies and individuals. Contact Susan Jarman, the editor at grapevine@lunet.it. The English Language Yellow Pages is another useful resource. See the site at englishyellowpages.it. Best wishes Roberta P.S. Really liked talesmag.com! "

" Dear Roberta, Thank you so much! We''ve found something in Sicily for April, now are working on June, so your suggestions will come in handy. Susan Jarmin did contact me and we''ll talk again next week. Actually, there''s so much to discover in Rome that I won''t feel awful if it''s too late to find a good house rental. However, my brother and his family are coming through and would love us all to get a house together in June, so that''s what I''m working on now. Again, I really appreciate your response. Would write more but am packing for a weekend in Munich - meeting two of my ""talesmag.com"" colleagues there, one of whom I''ve never met in person! Cheers, Francesca "
