Torino is a city inhabited by families and loved by its residents so it is a great place to visit with school aged kids. The Egyptian Museum is fascinating and has been a high point for our daughter since she was in grade school. The Mole Antonelliana houses the Natioinal Cinema Museum, and you can get a great view of the city by taking the elevator to the top. Boat rides along the Po are fun. There are lots of museums, some of which have armour and weapons. Endless chocolate shops and also lots of bars/cafes where you can pick up a quick sandwich or soda. If your children are interested in food the Eataly could be fun; it even has a cheese cave that you can go in to see the huge rounds of parmesan aging and a room of hams (prosciutti). There is a Medieval Village called Borgo Medievale that kids really enjoy. The city has many beautiful parks, some of which have playgrounds. If you show up with a frizbee or a soccer ball your kids could easily end up playing with others their age. There is a public swimming pool too. You can get around the city most easily using public transportation. The buses, trolley's and metro all interconnect. You can also take a train to more far flung destinations. Hope you have a great time! (Keep in mind that it can be HOT in late July and August and plan accordingly.)
