Does anyone have experience in "fare il rogito" while not in Italy. Our notaio has said we need to designate a person to be there for us and that we need to have a power of attorney sent in Italian. We would also need to get an apostle for 1 of the documents we need notarized. A recommendation for a US lawyer that could help with this would be great. Thanks.

Apostilles are easy and do not require an attorney.

Google "secretary of state [your state name]" and once you find that website, search for apostille. Typically, you will find a form to be completed and you mail it in to the Secretary of State's office along with the document to be apostilled and the fee (generally from $10 to $50, depending on the state). You will typically get the document and apostille back within a week or two.

As an example, if your document originated in New York / was notarized by a NY-registered Notary Public, then you go to https://www.dos.ny.gov/licensing/apostille.html

Thank you for the suggestion. I had found organizations that do this but going directly is better.

Far better. There is no reason whatsoever to pay anyone to do this for you.
