Retired American Couple - Ancona Bound

We are on a three year plan to move to Le Marche, near Ancona - probably around Camerano. We currently live in Southern California. Long ago, we have traveled much of the Pacific Rim. In recent decades, we traveled much of Europe. All this on both business and pleasure. Though we have never been to the Le Marche region (we have two future trips planned), it seems to fulfill all our criteria - Int'l airport, mainline train station, reasonably good roads, cruise ship port, good hospitals, beautiful scenery, relatively low cost, and a very nice 18 hole golf course.

However, we have a tax question!
Our research (including another topic in this forum) has turned up some very conflicting answers. Even reading the US-Italy "Tax Treaty Documents" is confusing and there is no mention of US Military Retirement income. But Article 18 seems to indicate that we will pay taxes ONLY to the US.

I understand that Italy does not have the concept of "married couple, filing jointly". So, consider the following: I will be 81 and my wife will be 68. Our total retirement income from the U.S. will consist of:

For me -
1. Military Pension
2. Small Boeing Pension
3. Social Security
4. Periodic IRA withdrawals

And My wife -
1. Pension from City
2. Social Security
3. Periodic IRA & Tax deferred account withdrawals

We will have no Italian income nor own any property in the US or Italy, We plan to rent while eventually establishing residency. And that will be our status.

Can someone please tell us what our income tax commitments will be for the US and Italy?
