Switching consulate locations during work visa application?

New Topic Newest First

Hi all,

My employer in Italy recently submitted my work visa application. However, when I was filling out the paperwork, I was living in Georgia, meaning the Italian consulate I would visit was Miami. Now I am living in North Carolina, so I could go to Philadelphia. I have proof of residency in both location, so either could theoretically work. However, I can get an appointment in Philadelphia two months earlier than in Miami. Is it possible to change the consulate location after the application was sent to the local prefettura?

Thank you for your help!

you may want to call or email:
Honorary Consulate in Charlotte (NC)
Honorary Consul: Claudio Carpano - Consular Decree
Address: 1704 East Bvld - Suite 101, Charlotte, NC 28203
[email protected] (704)373.2867
He can probably answer the question I have found the Honorary Italian Consuls helpful.

I have not yet been to the Miami consulate but will be going shortly. However, from what i have been told by other's who visited Miami, you may be better going to Philly.

The feedback I received is that the person you will see is very condescending, arrogant and seems to be very impressed with his position and posting to Miami, which Italians consider to be some mecca. (after living there for over 40 years I would simply call it a sh*thole, but that is another story LOL) Again, this is hearsay, so I would be interested in other's experiences with this consulate.

I do not know about Miami. The Philly Consulate has always been helpful to me.

We lived in Coral Gables where the Italian Consulate is. It was difficult to get an appointment on line but we did manage. However, is impossible to call them for they never answer the phone. One time I walked over to the consulate, stood in a very long line to ask one question how to change my address from one consul jurisdiction to another. I was told I needed to make an appointment on line, when I asked could I make an appointment with him or someone else, he repeated again, I can only make an appointment on line. They were not very helpful, but that is all behind us, we now live in Italy. I think all Italian consulates are about the same; just choose your poison.
