marrying an I.C. woman

I am curious about somthing and can't find it on the net. I am wondering if former French African colony citizens, such as Ivorians can work in France or live in France. I was looking at a web site of African women looking for serious relationships and noticed that several were born in Africa but living in France. They were either students or had jobs which could be filled by a frenchwoman easily. (so how do they get to work in France?)
Also, I am wondering, if anyone knows, would it be legal for me to buy a house in France, fix it up and sell it for a profit. Seems to me I would have to be married to a french woman or have a french business partner.
Another way to ask the question is, "I am an American who would like to marry an African woman and live in the suburbs of Paris. Anyone have any suggestions on how this can be done.

This info is from my sister who lived in the IC for eight years but now lives in France:

"foreigners can live and work in france but they need to obtain a permis de sejour

i believe this requires either a work contract like in the usa or else proof of revenue

lots of foreigners live here but many hold independent jobs like architects, artists etc..."

There are lots of IC people in France and most of them can work legally. It is easy to buy property in France with the help of a lawyer. France even has health insurance for foreigners that is quite inexpensive.

You might want to subscribe to "France" an excellent bimonthly publication from England, but available in the US by subscription. It gives lots of advice in every issue about living and traveling in France.(See www.francemag.com)

i hope you got what you want ..i mean about you moving to France and marrying an African woman. I saw the answer you got following your posting. One of them was pretty accurate about the visa and the condition to move to France. If you still want to be connected to some african girls or young ladies let me know, i could help you for that. I live actually in Los angeles but i have a lot of friends in Ivoty Coast.
