Hi everyone. Are there any other expats or any expat hangouts in Abidjan? I just arrived a bit over two weeks ago, and am just starting to get a feel for the place. I'd love to meet up with others going through or who have gone through the adjustment to life here.

Hi I just moved to the Ivory Coast in December. I can't help you much in where to hang out. There are a lot of marquis on the rue princess. I just wanted to say hi.

Hi all, hope u all are doin great..the reason why i write is that i have been offered an expat position in abidjan and was wondering if it is at all safe to move to abidjan? i looked up wikipedia, googled a lot and tons of other stuff online and all articles and information advise me not to move there. i am currently in uganda where i have lived for about 2 years without any security problems..
basically heres what i wanna know; 1) secure living? preferably apartment/community for expats 2) living expenses? i know thats a relative term but compared to US is it expensive? Uganda is pretty good and i have a good house in a very safe neighborhood for which i pay $2000 per month and other expenses including groceries and eating out and partying never top more than $1000 unless i travel
the reason why i am writing here is that i fear that the feedback given by my company might not be neutral and im looking for unbiased feedback on whether i should move here or not.. thanks, Hassan

hi hassan, i am still living in the us but i came back from abidjan lately where i stayed for 6 month.i can tell you for sure that you can trust your conpany and go. I dont think that it's worse than anywhere when it come to security. Especially if you are smart enough to avoid the bad areas. We have compton here in los angeles, dont go there at night and complain that they shoot you?. And one more think, 2000 $ would be really enough TO LIVE THE SAME WAY AS IN UGANDA. GOOD LUCK
