Hi, the culture shock was more with the frustration of having no one to tell you what you needed to know. I had lived in Ghana before so it wasn't too bad from that point but with not speaking the language and having no one to ask if it was safe to walk on the streets during the day? How do the local people feel toward foreign women being out and about? Where do you shop? Are there markets for fresh fruit and vegetable? Where is a doctor for emergencies? Can I catch a cab, how does that work, do they have metres? These things were such a frustration that I became housebound and that is not good!!! Having another friendly face speaking your language to point you in the right direction would make the transition so much more easy without the fear and frustration.
