Hello,

This is Pragyan from India. My fiance works in Abidjan with Olam International. I am moving to Abidjan following our marriage in January, 2011.

I am an MBA with 6 years of experience working as a sales and marketing professional with reputed organizations (including MNCs) in India.

I would be interested working in Abidjan. I am fluent in English and ready to learn French. Please tell me about the job opportunities for English speaking professionals and also for someone who is willing to learn French. Also, how long if takes to learn French to be able to start applying for jobs which requires proficiency in French and what level of French knowledge is good to start applying for jobs which requires French knowledge.

HI PRAGYAN
I have lived in COTE D'IVOIRE....for several years. It is a good country and OLAM is well known in the commodity field.
You ll be able to pick up French through interaction and take along some self-teach books. Although the French spoken in Ivory Coast is the equivalent of Hinglish in India. The real French,Parisian French, will come easily to you once you have lived there for some time.
Jobs are not that easy for someone even with a good knowledge of French except Accountants etc who can work with some Indian companies there( and there aren't that many) or with the Lebanese Trading companies.
