I was invited to visit ivory coast to meet my boyfriends family. I wonder why he wants me to meet his family. We have been dating since 2012.
Im American he is Ivorian. Im trying to understand his culture.

I think it's only normal to want you girlfriend to meet your family. But before we get to that issue.. Have you ever met this person in person or is it a Internet relationship?
As I live in Abidjan, Ivory Coast I almost weekly hear of Internet dating scams. It's big business here and they are good at it. Every week we hear of people being coned into sending money or arriving here and sometimes bad things happen to them.
Get in touch with you embassy here and ask them what the situation is.
