Hi, I am British and thinking about moving to the Caribbean provided I can get a job there etc. I am just finding it impossible to find any recruitment sites that have jobs other than resort jobs. I work in IT / Finance. Does anybody know of any resources that may be able to help? Or are there really hardly any jobs available? Any info appreciated, thanks, F xx

Need housing advice on moving to Montego Bay;
My family & I are in need of a long term rental of 12 to 15 months for a 3 to 4 bedroom place beginning August 1. My husband will be working in the Freeport area of Montego Bay.

Also - any other "advice" on the move is appreciated...

Hi, my wife and I are also looking for information about moving to Jamaica. We are in somewhat different circumstances, as we are semi-retired at present. We have lived in Africa, Central and South America and South Asia and quite frankly miss it.

Help!!

Hi! My husband and I resided in Jamaica last year. We are fairly familiar with the island, and are looking forward to our permanent return to the island. What type of info do you need? I can be reached at tsteger@laramiewy.org

Greetinigs Gaia,
Merry meet. My goal is to teach on the west end of the island. Do you have any insight or suggestions? Any thoughts you have would be interesting. I am a newbie to the island. Many thanks, Tia

Please, I need help! I want to take a six month sabatical to Montego Bay, with my husband and three children. We went in July, and I fell in love with the people, and the island. Can anyone give sound advice as to where to reside, or even find lodging for extended stay that does not cost a million bucks, and info re: schooling, etc. It appears you have a handle on this..please advise. Thank you, Jennifer James

hi there,
Well i dont know if i am too late posting this reply, but i live here in the freeport area, the company pays our costs..but i know we are paying $2000 US a month for a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom apartment at bay pointe apartments. Alot of the ones sitting about not rented need to have some maintenance really, we have pushed our landlord for upgrading things, but they are stuff that should be done. I like this apartment block it has 2 pools and gated and people are reasonable. How old are your children? i have 2 girls 11 and 14 and they go to school. I have the younger one in montego bay christian academy and she is doing really well, the school is at least 2 years advanced on the aussie school she attended back home, ....says alot for our education system. the other goes to reading secondary college and again a good school ...slight issues but no major. The schooling for the young one costs about $23,000 JA a term and the older one $63,000 JA a term, they attend private schools. Depending on your currency you would be able to see what that converts to.
If you like i can send you some pics of our apartment...let me know, you can email me at my email address aussie_lady03@yahoo.com.au or just email back here, whichever.
cheers
Sharon

I need to know all the information I can get; about the annual incoming for computer programmer, the cost of living, the cost of education, where can I find a good job, I will work at Knutsford Boulevard where is it ? is it in the downtown? every inforamtion can be very useful.Thanking you in anticipation.

Knutsford Boulevard is the main street through New Kingston, the main business district.

I came from Canada and find the cost of living quite expensive. Rent for a decent 3 bedroom townhouse will cost US $2,000 - $3,000.

My grocery bill is typically 50% more than I would have paid in Canada.

There are two private schools targeted at expats: Hillel will cost about US$5,000 per year and Americian International at least $8,000.

I have no idea about the IT job situation.
