GREETINGS! I am in the process of purchasing property on the N. coast and plan to move in July of '05. Does anyone have any info. on how much duty, if any, one has to pay when bringing in personal items? I am an American moving in, not an expat moving back....my email is creamcrop@vermontel. Thanks....Cher

Hello, I was wondering if you new how to ship personal items over to Jamaica? I am planning on moving there soon and would love some information. Also, how long can an American stay in Jamaica on just a birth certificate? I will be living in Hanover or West Moreland area. Thanks

GREETINGS DKYNEGRIL, It sounds as though you have not spent alot of time in Jamaica....as far as sending things down, you need to contact a freight forwarder from your area to send barrels or a carton, and then be prepared to pay duty at least on your electronics. You will be able to stay 6 months at a time (if customs officials are in a good mood that day)...if they give you less time, then you will have to go to Kingston to get an extention....Good luck and feel free to contact me if you need more info. You might want to check out the web site Jamaicans.com forum to get more answers.
