I have an opportunity with a new job in Jamaica for 1 year and would like to discuss with anyone about the general security and accommodation and general living situation on the Island. Specifically schools, because I will be bringen my children age 7 and 10. The job is in Kingston and starting from june 2006 till august 2007

I was in Jamaica for a short time about 12 years ago. It was your average 3rd world country. Extremely laid back and relaxed. Working there would let you have a vacation on your off days. It's really beautiful. It rains a lot, but that must be why the country is so green and luscious. But of course, always check the latest travel warnings before you go. Things change in 12 years (unfortunately, for the worst). At any rate, I wish you the best there. I sure had a blast.
