I have a ton of questions. I am planning on moving early next year. I already have a house (my step father's), but it's not in the greatest neighborhood, Seaview Gardens. I am concerned about education for my daughter. I am currently working on my Ph.D in education so will be travelling back and forth at least twice a year. I also would like a job. I will still be working online for a US university making about $1K/mo. I know this is not enough, how do I make some money?

Hi,
There are a LOT of questions you have!
Why not try my blog to see if some of the answers are already there -- http://francismove.blogspot.com
CaribbeanJobs.com and SplashJamaica.com are the first places to star t if looking for a job.
Also, UWI and UTECH and UCC each may have teaching positions.
The University of Phoenix allows teaching online, and you can do several classes at one.

Yes, Not sure how old your daughter is, but you can check out Campion, Immaculate or St.Andrews.The private schools are abit expensive, but she will then be able to stay on the American school system, as oppose to the British/ Carri bean system which will be very different for her. Private schools. Hille, The American School. I would certainly troll those Universities mentioned to you as well, and check with the Ministry of Education here in JA to see if any slots are coming open. I hate to say this but finding a job in JA is all about networking and who you happen to know.
Good luck Trini

Working in Jamaica has become much more difficult with the elections of the new government. the JLP has taken a hard stance on undocumented workers and unless you have some pretty special skills you'll have a very hard time finding work in this country. It's a poor place and mys uggestion is consider how you will earn in your home country and bring something to Jamaica because financially it has little to offer you.
I live in Jamaica and I support my family writing online. I would be glad to show some folks how to do what I do. Just visit my blog at http://www.jamaicamax.com and contact me so we can work online together.
