resort housing

Im a chef living in the US and was thinking of relocating to negril for maybe a year or so just to get some new experience and have a change of scenery for a little while. i was wondering if some of the resorts would provide housing for employees or at least help with housing. How much would it be for a single male adult to stay and live decently well?

what might be a starting salary at a major resort for a sous chef?

Hello,

What I would recommend you do, is to make a few trips down to Negril, and scope the place out for jobs.

I am not sure if you have been here to Jamaica before, but I'm guessing that you may have.
I would take 4 to 8 weeks to live here, and visit the various hotels that you may want to work for. That way you will get a great deal of your questions answered.

Jobs are very difficult to come by on the Island, and work permits recently got way more expensive.

You best approach is research, research. Places to start would be the bigger hotels, Couples,
Swept Away, RIU etc. Simply check with the tourist board for hotel listings and use that as an initial resource.

Coming to Jamaica on vacation is way different than coming here to live, but certainly doable.
Lastly, if you would really like more information about possibly moving and living in JA. please visit my Informational blog.

I just saw a job vacancy for a sous chef at Couples Resort in Negril. I'm not sure of the salar. You may want to check it out and ask those questions.
