We have been hs for many years and have used a variety of programs over the years. However, some main constants have been our heavy use of literature and storytelling in our schooling, our love of nature, use of real world experiences to learn and flexibility. We follow a mostly Waldorf inspired program, with touches of Charlotte Mason. I think (based on what I saw on your website) that your 4 might enjoy a Waldorf-type structure. Also based on your statement that you have many children that you are in contact with, I see no reason to enroll you 4 yo in school. To say that you can just teach him the other things he needs to know, does not address some of what I consider to be important aspects of hs. He loses that time with the family, he may be doing far more writing and reading than is age-appropriate, plus learning simply to memorize information, versus learning to think. Just my .02 cents.
