i need a job

i would like to obtain employment to sustain myself on my relocation. do i need a work visa or anythiing? is it expensive to live in mobay? Is it dangerous there? do they take advantage if youre a foreigner? like most places.. is there any one willing to rent a room or something to a sincere 50ish lady hoping to relocate to ja. from U.S. washington state. I am soooo ready to move indefinately.... i need employment, either above or under the table. just need to sustain myself....please let me know if anyone out there can offer anything such as info.. also, how long can i stay permanent or what?

Hello,

Yes you will need a work permitt to work in Jamaica and please do your research wisely as jobs are hard to come by and work permits are expensive, like over $108,000. Jamaican dollars per year, not to mention its only for a year.
Note the exchange rate is currently One US dollar is $89.00 Jamaican dollars.

The cost of living is also relatively high, when measured to local salary rates. Living here is clearly doable, but you must do your research wisely.

There is a very friendly retired American fellow by the name of John Casey who lives in Montegobay. John writes for a Column called Jamaicans.com, do look him up Re: google or Jamaicans.com.
He has alot to say about day to day life in Montegobay.

Read read and more read, then come out for a few visits and stay away from the all inclusive vacation spots is the best advise i can give.
