Hello,
Yes you will need a work permitt to work in Jamaica and please do your research wisely as jobs are hard to come by and work permits are expensive, like over $108,000. Jamaican dollars per year, not to mention its only for a year. Note the exchange rate is currently One US dollar is $89.00 Jamaican dollars.
The cost of living is also relatively high, when measured to local salary rates. Living here is clearly doable, but you must do your research wisely.
There is a very friendly retired American fellow by the name of John Casey who lives in Montegobay. John writes for a Column called Jamaicans.com, do look him up Re: google or Jamaicans.com. He has alot to say about day to day life in Montegobay.
