How do I bring a dog in Jamaica

Hi All

We are about to move across to Jamaica. We have a 9 year old Maltese poodle, which is like a second child. We have been told that he wont be allowed into the country. If this is the case It means that the family will be split and I will have to find a home for my wife and the dog in another country. Are there any suggestions, as we are desperate?

From what I discovered on a website, the dog has to be English breed inorder for u to take it into Jamaica.
