Hi Audrey. To answer your question regarding schools, u first have to tell us what parish in Jamaica you are moving to.

actually, the parish we move to will be dependant upon the school we choose for our children, so im waiting for a few names of some good schools that you all may be familiar with.

Hi, my children go to Hampton school for girls and my son goes to Munro school for boys. They are grades 7-12. Excellent exam school. Boarding and tuition is about 2000us per year. Located in st Elizabeth. The go to school from sept to July 5.

Ok, so the school is of higher importance than the location I'm assuming from your response. The schools Maura suggested are also good schools. Within every parish you'll find good schools so consider making the location top priority in terms of safety, u know what I mean? Give me an idea of locations that you have in mind and I can suggest the "good" schools within that area. My family and I will be moving close to Ocho Rios and though there are good schools within that area, we are also considering Montego Bay as an option.

Those are good schools as well Maura but her kids are ages 6&9, so what are the good prep schools in St.Elizabeth? I know Mandeville has some great ones likewise, Kingston, Mobay and Ocho Rios.

well Montego Bay comes easily to mind and I like Negril, though again, the schools will drive our decision as to where we stay. Security is also important as one pointed out. Will i have trouble if going back to the states with their school credits transferring? is the Jamaica school system recognized by accreditation standards in the US?

Hello, we are also moving to Jamaica, specifically the Falmouth area, which is in the Trelawny parish. I have a 10yo daughter and will be needing a school for her next year (2013-2014) she will be in 6th grade. Does anyone know of a good school public or private with excellent education standards so she will be well prepared for anything she chooses to do in the future. Any information is appreciated although we would prefer her to live at home with us.

Hello i realize this post is 2 years old but would love to hear about your experience of moving to falmouth. We currently have a home there but will be moving to Jamaica. Ultimately want to be in kingston but for the first year we will stay in trelawny. Did you end up sending your kids to Heinz S School? How was the transition? Things to do for fun as an expat? Which country did you leave from? Sorry so many questions just rare to hear someone move to Falmouth!!! Thanks for sharing!
