Moving to JA

Post New Topic

I want to move there and bring my family with me. I work online so I can work anywhere I have a good internet connection.

The immigration part is confusing me. We are Canadians. My Dad who will be coming along is Jamaican but has his canadian citizenship as well. So he is no trouble.

I on the other hand can get a jamaican passport through descent - but my husband can not.

Anyway, I want my daughter to go to school in JA so my traveling schedule will be matching her school schedule.

Hence my confusion. It says you can stay 6 months without a visa as a Canadian. I plan on going down for late august early september, coming back late december for 2 weeks then returning in janaury til june.
Then in june coming back to Canada for two months, then going back to Jamaica in September and repeating the process for 5 years.

So - basically - is the 6 months max per trip? Or is it per calendar year?

wiredm...I suppose you have your good information as everything you analysed here were just great. No problems. All you need to do is apply for your Jamaican citizenship and then your husband will be fine to live in Jamaica.

Mike's information is a good one. That's the way out. Your daughter has/need to get a stamp at the Canadian embassy to attend school in Jamaica. What parish are you planning on moving to?

I am not sure if my citizenship would be of any use to my husband unless he can stay as a dependent or something?

I am looking at St. James and St. Ann parish at the moment.

Yes your citizenship means a lot to your hubby as that automatically gives him 3 years stay without hassle. Dont go into schemes, thieves are all over there. We had to run as well.

If it's not a gate community, I say don't do it.
