We have opportunity to move to Kingston from the states for a few years. We have never been to Jamaica. I'd like to know if the American School is the "best" out there for elementary or if there is another private school in Kingston to consider. I really am clueless about Jamaica for the most part so I have been reading everyone's posts. Thanks for the assistance.

Gapat, Crime is everywhere and while per capita it is higher here in Jamaica its not like anarchy has broken out. I'm a US Citizen, and I have heard the rumors but have never experience any, and I don't like in fear. I live in Kingston, I am a Custom Broker so I do move around. My two eldest of four kids goes to AISK and I think its the best decision we made, Its a bit on the expensive side but if you want the best for your kids then AISK it should be. I hope this helps

Crime is in country so please don't let that hinder your decision. Jamaica is a beautiful island. I'd recommend Vaz Prep.

Gapat, My husband and I just returned from a visit to Jamaica and like everywhere else in the world, there are no perfect people. Every large city has a ghetto. I found it very insightful to research videos on YouTube and other video sites like Bing to get non- commercial footage. There are a number of videos of Kingston, as well as, other parts of Jamaica filmed by visitors and expats alike. I recommend checking them out for a visual and more realistic perspective.
