I am an LPN and my hubby retired USAF, we have a 15 y/o daughter and desire to move to the St. Ann, Ocho Rios area next summer from USA. NEED HELP! trying to figure out how to find a job, if retirement pay is taxed by USA, enroll daughter in school, etc. We have wanted to make this move for a long time, love the local culture and want a family adventure!

It's great that you are considering the move like many of us. At the age your daughter is though, u should have really kept her in school here so she'd go straight into college after graduating high school. I have friends w/degrees from Ja and when they come to the USA it's not recognized, they still have to go back to school here. My plan is come back when my daughter is in her final year of hs there.

Oh as for the job situation-my only suggestion is for u to try the St. Ann's Bay hospital. It will be a culture shock based on all the negativity I've heard about the lack of resources and care, but give it a try and see how it works for you.

I find that it is always best to call the Jamaican High Commission, (that serves your area) for all information you need. Do not trust "hear say" because policies and procedures may change quite often. All the best
