Budget hotels

I travel at least 6 months a year and almost always stay in budget hotels. I have never been to Jamaica but in a quick search I’m finding very few if any budget hotels. I define for me a budget hotel as one that costs $40 US or less per night (usually less in countries with a cost of living like Jamaica), but also a hotel that has the basic amenities - private room with air con, double bed, ensuite bathroom with hot shower, cable tv, wifi. I hope to spend a month in Jamaica and I would like to spend 1 week each in 4 different areas of the country. The only one of those 4 areas I have decided on for sure is Port Morant. Otherwise I am open. Are there budget hotels in Jamaica? Or is there an alternative way to stay inexpensively there? Ideas and suggestions please.
Thanks, Jerry

Check the various Hostel search engines. Also check for guest houses.

Your request for A/C in Jamaica for less than $40 may not be realistic, as the electricity costs are very high. Hot water is a little more likely.

A lot of properties in Jamaica are NOT advertised on the internet.
