Selling property in Jamaica

Dear all,

I am trying to sell a property that my mother in law inherited several years ago in Browns Town, St. Ann and would appreciate advice from anyone who has been through what is turning out to be a rather convoluted process.

We are at the stage that probate has been granted, but am now wondering whether it is obligatory to register the title in my mother-in-laws name, or whether we can try to sell the property now?

Many thanks!

What I can tell you, although I have never sold property, I did live in Jamaica for a few years..i know a lady in Negril, who is number one in real estate on the island, and she sells islandwide....As you may know, when it comes to doing business, you can get in a mess easily, if you dont' know what you're doing, esp in another country. She has a facebook page, it's called Christine Klein sells Real Estate Jamaica...and she can help you find your way..she's young, she's American, and like I said, she is the number one agent, i would work with her...all the best to you. Soozy

What would the asking price be? I am seriously looking to move to Jamaica/Ocho/St Ann and have been reading up on it for a few weeks now.

Good Day Yachtie
You do not need to do 2 separate transfers - at this stage, you can go ahead and find a buyer and then transfer the title to the new buyer.

If you need help, let me know - Christine Klein, Century 21 Heave-Ho Properties. c.klein@century21jm.com
