To bring:
skin lotion deodorant bandaids/first aid kitchen knives padlocks decent unlocked phone laptop bedding/sheets/towels TV/stereo/entertainment- portable Shoes extra socks cool personal stuff to remind you of who you are
*I'm basing this on a move from the US. The above items can be purchased for less and are of higher quality than you can generally get in JA....
Stuff not to bring:
When I moved to Ja in 2004 my employers paid for the move. When I moved back to the US in 2008 I was on my own......with a LOT of stuff. My advice is to not bring anything to JA that you would be unwilling to sell if you leave. The shipping costs are astronomical. In my current situation I actually have a household's worth of stuff; appliances, couches, beds, etc on island, but I spend somewhat more time on island than not. For me the question is more like "what do I bring this time?" Hence the lotion, bandaids, etc....
