Now that we have our new (used) car I started researching alarm systems with kill switch. What I found was something better in my opinion. (I'm a tech junkie)

There is a Jamaican company (YES!! Jamaican... not available in the states) that offers a car GPS Tracking device.

It's GSM/GPRS and offers real time tracking via smartphone or web, Remote engine cut off and restart, engine on/off detection and notification, Geo-Fence (if the car leaves a specified area), panic button, built in back up battery and device tamper notification, analytics and more!! It even has a "Listen In" function and you can here what's going on in the car!!

An alarm is great but if your car is stolen or jacked, you can kill the engine and notify the authorities to the exact location!!

You buy the unit J$13,995 (at Digicel) and have it installed (King Alarm - J$2500). There is no monthly fee for the app or web service. ( amberjamaica.com )
