Hello everyone, my sister and I plan on moving to Jamaica at the beginning of 2017. I live there for 2 years in the early 90's and haven't been there since. I would like to find a job and residence somewhere in or near Ocho Rios. I have been doing telecommunications work/network administration/structured cabling work and A/V installations for years. I would like to find a company to work for down there but havent the slightest idea of where to start my search. If any of you guys out there have any helpful info or advice I would appreciate it. If you know of any companies that would consider relocating me from the states please let me know and I will send my resume and all contact info.

I'll presume you've read through the Forum and the post/replies in reference to relocating & finding employment and realize that unless you are a returning Jamaican National and/or have a job offer (with work permit) working on the island will be next to impossible unless you start your own business.
Ochi is a nice place to live however there won't be as many opportunities there as there are in Mobay or Kingston.
A lot has changed in the 20+ years since you've been here. I'd suggest that before you blindly relocate you and your sister come visit for a week or two. Feel things out, scout around and get your bearings.

There seems a clear demand for these type of skills, but Jamaica does not make it easy to get work permits. Doing your work as a freelancer, or subcontractor seems a possibility to me, which is a way of creating self-employment as the previous poster speaks of. Come to Jamaica and make some contacts in your industry, and you will learn what is possible. Applying for a job and work permit from outside seems a longshot.
