Has anyone gone through the process of getting permanent residency as a pensioner? Is there a minimum monthly amount required? If hubby it the recipient, can myself and daughter get permanent residency under his pension? I have tried finding this information on the PICA website and am unable to find anything.

Checking the PICA web site again it states: "Retirement – Persons who no longer work in their home country and are desirous of living in Jamaica" and under documents needed it says: "Evidence of financial status and means of support – eg. Particulars of pension, bank account, property owned and business investments;" and "Letter stating reasons for seeking permanent residence in Jamaica" (among other items)
Unlike some other countries there doesn't seem to be a minimum $$ amount designated which leads me to believe it's up to the immigration officer that works & approves the case.
Having a decent pension and/or social security amount along with financial stability most likely would document qualification.
If I recall correctly the spouse with the pension would be the applicant and the other spouse and children would be listed as dependents.
I doubt emailing or calling PICA will get you anywhere... You may have to visit the nearest Jamaica Embassy in your home country to get all your questions answered.
I do have to go to Kingston to get a Marriage Exemption Certificate from the Ministry of Labour and then back to PICA (in Mobay) to apply for a Extention of Stay so I could ask someone at PICA for you.

I recently asked all these questions in Kingston. and they would not give out information as to the chances of being accepted. There is a written list with all the requirements and documentation you will need, which is probably the same as online, including police reports, and bank accounts, pensions, etc. It costs nearly $1000 just to apply. I did not ask about dependents.... but clearly every case is independently evaluated. .

Rick, please post your experience with getting the Marriage Exemption Certificate and the Extension of Stay. I plan to do the same in a few months. Thanks
